My husband, Brandon, has been wanting a golden doodle for years. I was making him wait until we got a house so we would have room for it……(they are huge) but after our little yorkiepoo passed away this summer I realized I did want another companion. I wanted a lap dog though, so we met in the middle. Meet Zoey, our F1B Mini Goldendoodle.

Zoey has been such a good pup. Not only is she loving and sweet, but she is also extremely smart. Within a week of having her she already understood how to sit and lay down. And I am not even that good of a trainer so thats very impressive. She definitely makes us look better. We did have a little bit of an issue crate training her since she is such an affectionate dog. She just didn’t want to be away from us! But after letting her bark it out a few nights and playing a lot of Bob Marley (apparently Reggea music is the most calming for dogs) she now goes willingly into her cage every night.
We researched a lot before actually deciding on getting a Mini Goldendoodle and I would highly recommend doing a bit of research if you are thinking about getting a dog. Every breed of dog is different and depending on what your family is like, getting the right breed is important. Let me give you a few of the reasons why we chose to get an F1B Mini Goldendoodle.
1. Temperment. F1B Mini Goldendoodle are about 75% miniature poodle and 25% golden retriever. So Zoeys Mom was a golden retriever and miniature poodle mix and her Dad was a miniature poodle. So yeah, mostly poodle. But that little bit of golden retriever jeans give her a very calm, very family friendly temperament. And all that poodle in her makes her very smart. Zoey loves kids and knows when to play more calm around them. We have had her for about three months and she knows all of our routines and how to sit, lay down, shake, roll over, stay and come. If i were to work with her more I have no doubt that she could know a lot more.
2. Hypoallergenic. While golden retrievers shed like crazy and have a lot of animal dander, being mostly poodle makes it so that Zoey is completely hypoallergenic and does not shed. Actually, I’m pretty sure I shed more than she does. So if you are looking for an indoor dog and don’t want to have to deal with a lot of hair… 👍
3. Lap Sized. Regular golden doodles can be over 100 pounds. Imagine that snuggled up on your lap…. F1B Mini Goldendoodles are around 20-25 pounds. They are definitely a better lap dog. Zoey is 5 months right now and is 9 pounds so she will probably be around 20 pounds full grown. I am so glad for that because she is already my little snuggle buddy and I would like that to continue.
4. Adorable. I mean, that goes without saying right? She’s just so fluffy and so cute.
Hopefully you are convinced that Mini Goldendoodles are amazing dogs! If you are still not convinced, just follow Zoey’s insta @littlemisszoeydoodle and you will be 😉
