Twine Carrots Craft

Farmhouse style twine carrots. I don’t know about you, but I love adding a few rustic pieces into my decorations. It really helps to have different mediums and textures. These carrots are so easy and fun to make, definitely an upgrade to your Easter decorations! You only need three items and a hot glue gun to make them. Put them in a basket or next to a decorative rabbit and you have the perfect easter look.

For Halloween last year, I dressed my little guy in a bunny outfit and these were the perfect sized prop to complete his look.

For this craft you will need:

○ Newspaper

○ Twine

○ Palm tree fibers

Instructions

  1. Start by unfolding your newspaper so that it only has one fold in it. Like an unopened book.
  2. Then fold one of the longer sides in about 2-3 inches.
  3. Start rolling in one of the sides to make a carrot shape. The tip of the carrot should be the middle of the folded side of your newspaper.
  4. When you are happy with your shape and size, tape the loose end down.
  5. Fold the ends of the newspaper in so that the carrot has an even top. Try to leave a gap into the carrot to add in the leaves later.
  6. Use your hot glue gun to glue the twine to the tip of your newspaper.
  7. Once the glue is dried, start glueing the twin around the carrot in small sections. If you try to do to large of a section, your glue may dry before you get the twine on. Try to keep the twine tightly would so that you cannot see the newspaper underneath.
  8. Continue glueing the entire carrot untill you get to the top.
  9. Fold your palm fibers into an 8 inch bunch and tie tightly at one end.
  10. Glue the tied end of the fibers into the top of the carrot.
  11. Finish glueing the twin around the top of the carrot to cover the hole. Glue the twin tightly around the palm fibers.
  12. Cut the twine and make sure to glue the end down securely.
  13. Cut the folds of the palm fibers and trime any uneven or loose fibers to make the top look even.
  14. And DONE!
